Anglers battled rough waters during the Second Annual St. Stanislaus Fishing Tournament on June 23rd. Despite the choppy water, dozens of anglers showed off their great catches of the day. The top anglers were recognized in four major categories, Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, and Biggest Fish/Junior Biggest Fish. Master and Junior Master Angler Awards were also presented at the awards ceremony.
The top anglers in the Speckled Trout category are as follows: Mac Metzler, 3.65 lbs, Joe Gex, 3.45 lbs, Brian Southwick, 3.20 lbs, Chris Doxey, 3.05 lbs, and Michael Smith, 2.6 lbs.
The top Redfish anglers were John Zimmerman, 5.85 lbs, John Rosetti, 5.85 lbs, Jeremy Niolet, 5.7 lbs, Steve Beaudet, 5.25 lbs, and Zach Elkins, 5.15 lbs.
The top Flounder anglers were Jeremy Niolet, 2.95 lbs, John Zimmerman, 2.6 lbs, Amber Breland, 2.2 lbs, John Rosetti, 1.9 lbs, and Steve Beaudet, 1.9 lbs.
Jonathan Dill won the Biggest Fish award with a 29.65 lb black drum, he was followed by Matt McKiernan (21.3 lb Redfish), Cary Trapani (15.05 lb Redfish), Chris Doxey (10.95 lb Redfish), and Tommy Elkins (9.35 lb Redfish). Alex Breaux won the Jr. Biggest Fish Award with his 1.25 lb. Black Drum. Oren Doxey placed second with a 1.15 lb Ladyfish and Abe Doxey who caught a .95 lb White Trout.
John Zimmerman won the Master Angler title and Alex Breaux won the Jr. Master Angler Award.
Participants also had a chance to enter Speckled Trout and Redfish Calcuttas. The winners of the Speckled Trout Calcutta, $300 winnings, were Jarrod Malley and Jeremy Niolet. The winners of the Redfish Calcutta, $337.50, were Steve Beaudet, John Rosetti, Cary Trapani, and Chris Trapani.
